Andrea founded Pure Communications in 2004, after more than a decade in communications for leading PR firms and life science companies, with the intent of building a boutique healthcare agency. Over 12 years, she grew Pure from a one-woman consultancy to an organization with more than 30 people on staff and a client roster of leading companies from the biotech, medtech, diagnostic, pharmaceutical and venture capital sectors. Pure has an exceptional track record of media, investor relations and brand communications success.
Now, with more than 24 years of entrepreneurial, public relations, issues management, marketing communications and investor relations experience, Andrea brings a wealth of strategic communications expertise to Pure/BrewLife’s clients and team members. Andrea is focused on building high performance teams to deliver creativity, quality results, strategic thinking and service to clients. She serves as coach and sounding board to account teams and clients for plan development and implementation of key campaigns or transaction-related communications.
Prior to founding Pure, Andrea’s career included roles with DeVries Public Relations in NYC, DuPont Merck Pharmaceuticals and Medical Imaging, Bayer Diagnostics and Ketchum Public Relations in D.C. She has been very active in organizations devoted to youth and wellness causes and currently serves as a board member and communications chair for the JDRF Coastal Carolina branch.
A graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., Andrea possesses an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree in communications, law, economics and government. Her marketing and communications work has included programs throughout the United States, Europe, Australia and South America. A native of Massachusetts, Andrea is married with two children and two dogs and considers Wilmington, North Carolina, home.
Matt joined Pure in 2014 following more than 25 years in the investor relations and corporate communications fields. Matt’s role at Pure focuses on overseeing the investor relations practice and financial communications offering, as well as providing strategic counsel and hands-on account leadership for select clients.
Matt specializes in developing and refining suitable and engaging corporate narratives, the targeting and development of institutional investor and research analyst audiences, support of financing and strategic activities, corporate and crisis communication, and introducing/positioning private venture-backed companies to the Wall Street community. Matt is regarded as an expert in navigating the pre-public and IPO process, and he has driven the IR function for more than 150 publicly traded clients on all the major global exchanges.
Prior to Pure, Matt spent more than 17 years at Allen & Caron, where he directed the development and execution of numerous successful corporate investor relations programs. Prior to Allen & Caron, he spent seven years in corporate investor relations, public affairs, stock brokerage and financial analysis.
Matt holds an MBA from California State University, San Francisco, and a bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA. He is based in San Clemente, Calif.
Based in San Francisco, Nicole has more than 15 years of healthcare communications experience, including media and investor relations, issues management, internal communications, physician outreach, brand positioning and advocacy work. Her experience spans various healthcare categories mainly focused on neurology, cardiovascular disease, and oncology but also including HIV/AIDS, celiac disease, infertility, and blood disorders. Nicole has also worked with multiple companies in the device, diagnostic and health technology industries.
Nicole oversees integrated work that includes strategic consulting and positioning, online and traditional influencer engagement, disease awareness and market preparation, branding, website development and management and analytics projects. Her core areas of expertise are strategic planning, messaging/positioning, investor relations, transaction management (eg, for partnerships & M&A), issues management, content creation and media outreach.
Prior to joining W2O Group, Nicole served as director of corporate communications and Investor Relations at Nuvelo, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on cardiovascular disease and cancer. While at Nuvelo, she provided strategic counsel and oversaw all communications activities, including events such as the announcement of pivotal trial results, strategic partnerships, two mergers, a name change and multiple public and private financings.
Previously, Nicole was in the Health Technology group at GCI, a global communications agency, and Russell-Welsh, an investor and public relations agency focused on life science companies. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in biology and communications from the University of California, San Diego.
Tom cut his teeth in the agency business back in the early dot.com days and has spent over 20 years working with clients in a strategic consulting capacity. His sweet spot is delving into the intricacies of what makes a company special, what makes its personality shine and what best communicates its worth to the world.
Tom is one of the original members of the management team that helped set up BrewLife in 2013 as a new agency within the W2O Group network of companies. As BrewLife has joined forces with Pure, Tom continues to serve as the head of brand strategy, guiding clients in the development of their business and creative positioning. Recent clients include: Genomic Health, Dermira, Esperion, BlackThorn Therapeutics and Aimmune. Tom also plays an operational role for the firm, helping to oversee the creative account team and making sure that clients are happy and budgets are met.
Prior to W2O Group, Tom was a partner at a branding agency called ODA (ODA was acquired by W2O Group in 2009). At ODA, Tom served as the lead strategic advisor for the agency’s brand development and digital strategy engagements. Past clients include: Acclarent, Allergan (Juvederm), Versant Ventures, Cepheid, FoxHollow, Asthmatx and CardioDx.
Tom received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and holds an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA. Away from Pure, Tom can be found trying to keep pace with his three young kids, chasing waves along the southern Marin coast, carving turns in Tahoe, and tending bar at the Sunrise Saloon during Burning Man.
Kelly Lindenboom joined Pure Communications in June 2014 as senior vice president and group manager. Kelly has more than 20 years of healthcare and life sciences investor and corporate communications experience. Most recently, she was vice president of corporate communications at inVentiv Health, a large, multi-national healthcare services organization headquartered in Burlington, Mass. In this role, she was responsible for internal and external communications, corporate branding and marketing, as well as supporting communications efforts on behalf of the company’s global portfolio.
Prior to inVentiv, Kelly held senior communications positions with leading biotechnology companies, including Verenium, Ariad Pharmaceuticals and Millennium Pharmaceuticals, where she worked closely with management to support business objectives through strategic, integrated communications. Kelly also spent several years working with different healthcare agencies, including Biosector2 and Edelman Public Relations, where she supported emerging and well-established pharmaceutical brands and companies. Kelly began her career in healthcare communications at the American Cancer Society as a director of communications.
Kelly received her bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Pace University in Pleasantville, NY. She lives in Beacon Hill in Boston, Mass.
Jennifer Torres joined Pure Communications in 2014 after serving in a consulting capacity to Pure for nearly five years. Most recently, Jennifer served as global client engagement director for Alcon Laboratories, a Novartis company, on behalf of MSLGROUP. During her time in that role, she led consumer and professional communications initiatives spanning multiple offices around the globe, and she served as interim head of communications for Alcon North America and Latin America, where she partnered with the executive leadership team to provide internal corporate communications support.
Jennifer has nearly 20 years of experience creating and driving strategic corporate and brand initiatives for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies across a wide range of therapeutic categories, including oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infectious disease, respiratory medicine, inflammatory disease, ophthalmology and optometry.
Jennifer’s expertise in pharmaceutical and life sciences corporate and product communications includes platform communications development, spokesperson development and relations, media strategy, issues management and advocacy relations in U.S. and global markets, direct-to-patient outreach and aligning public relations with other communications disciplines to help teams maximize brand goals.
She brings significant corporate and brand communications experience to Pure in the corporate and agency sectors, having served in senior strategic roles at Pfizer, Hill & Knowlton, Ketchum and Porter-Novelli. During her time at Pfizer, she led commercial team members and public relations agency partners in the development and implementation of communications strategies across the U.S. oncology franchise.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing from St. Thomas University, St. Paul, Minnesota. She currently resides in Chicago.
